A second attack at a Serbian school has been carried out after the shooting yesterday involving a teenage girl who stabbed a teacher and a former classmate.
The latest incident reportedly happened at the Rudjer Boskovic Gymnasium in the capital Belgrade where the girl, aged 15, identified only by the initials L.I., attacked and stabbed a boy of the same age with the initials A.R.
Also injured was a teacher who tried to stop her one day after the tragedy at the “Vladislav Ribnikar” school, when Kosta Kecmanović, 14, killed eight classmates and a school guard.
It is understood that the girl had taken the knife with her when she went to the school.
The media reported that the girl was a former student at the school and had apparently left last October.
Those injured are reportedly not in a critical condition.
Dragisa Savic, executive manager at the school, told local media that there had been 25 vans organised to take kids home and added: “Everything is okay for now, the police are here and there is nothing to worry about. There are no victims.
But the news of the second incident so close after the first caused panic with parents rushing to the school to collect their children and police ringing the property.
One mother said that she had rushed to the school because her child had been in tears on the phone, begging her to come because of what happened.
She said: “He told me that there are over 20 policemen at school, that he heard from a friend that a girl stabbed a history teacher and then started chasing another kid.”
Others said that they were worried now about letting their children go to school at all after a second incident, with one mum saying: “This is a prestigious school, they have security, A gate. Our children are no longer safe anywhere.”
The country’s former education minister Mladen Sarcevic who apparently studied at the school, said: “She is a former student who had some mental problems, her parents did not report this when enrolling.
“She graduated from school in October. Today she came as if to see old friends, but in an instant, she took out a small kitchen knife and began to slash around with it.
“The teacher reacted quickly and took the knife from her but was cut in the process.”
