A 20-year-old British holidaymaker has been found dead in a swimming pool at a party on a Greek island, it has emerged.
The tourist – not named by police – is said to have been found face down apparently after passing out in a pool attached to a nightclub on Zakynthos island.
The club – not named in local media – is said to be popular and is located in Laganas, a part of the island notorious for its hard-partying nightlife.
Local media reports that the Brit’s body was discovered at 10pm on Sunday, 25th June.
He was pulled from the pool by the bar manager – who is also a lifeguard – who performed CPR on him.
The holidaymaker was rushed to hospital by paramedics where he was declared dead after an ambulance was called to the scene.
The manager, who has not been named, told local media that the tourist had not drowned.
Local media reports that he had passed out in the pool.
An autopsy is to be carried out in Patras on the Greek mainland to determine the cause of death.
A police investigation into the young man’s death is ongoing.
